The ABC’s of The Outsiders Project
The following rubric will give you the criteria for this project. It is due no later than Friday, November 12, 2010 – no late projects will be accepted!   You must turn in this rubric with your project. For each letter of the Alphabet (except X and Z), you will need to write a key word that begins with that letter. You also need to write at least 3 detailed sentences (7th grade level sentences) that talk about that key word and include a picture that goes along with the word. Spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and neatness will all be graded. This can be done on a computer or blank sheets of paper stapled together. If students need materials (paper, construction paper, glue, crayons, markers, etc.) they need to plan ahead and request them from me. They can do this on paper back to back to create a book. They can also do 2 letters on one side of the paper and 2 letters on the back side, or 1 letter per side of paper. Here’s an example:
D is for DarryDarry is Ponyboy and Soda’s older brother. He has had to take care of his younger brothers since his parents both died in a car accident, and is always warning Ponyboy to stay out of trouble so that the state won’t split them up. It is because Darry hit him that Ponyboy ran away from home the night Johnny killed Bob.  Darry works as a roofer putting roofs on houses to support his family.
